Norma DeVore

October 21, 1932 — February 26, 2019

Norma Lou (Allison) DeVore, 86, of South Weber, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019.  She was born October 21, 1932 in Cheney, Washington; the youngest of 2 daughters to Chet and Bea Johnson.  She married James Allison on December 28, 1952 in Cheney, Washington (deceased 1985).  They had 4 children: Barbara (Lynn) Stephens, Jim (Holly) Allison, Patti (Jeff) Bryant, and Laura Barnes.

Norma married Walter DeVore on April 8, 1989 (deceased 2018).  She gained 4 step-children: Steve (Val) Devore, Vickie (Var) Calder, Kathy (Steve) Brewer, and Cindy (John) Percival.

Norma’s life was centered around her entire family and many friends. She had a zest for life and made friends easily as people gravitated toward her kindness, quick wit and positive outlook.

She has taught us the value of a dollar by her frugal ways, which were sometimes comical. She was always finding money in vending machines and on the ground, in fact it became a contest between her, family members and friends, who could find the most during a year. Her passions were garage sales, auctions, anything Mickey Mouse, slot machines and chocolate. Do not hide vegetables in her meals, she will find any vegetable no matter how small and pick it out.

She was always up for a game of cards and she loved traveling, camping and spending time at Sand Lake in Wisconsin.

She was a member of the Clearfield Community Church since the early 1960’s and enjoyed going to the Bible Studies.

She was a member of Beth Arabah Chapter No. 24 Order of the Eastern Star and was a past Associate Bethel Guardian of Bethel 15 International Order of Jobs Daughters

.She was a leader in the T.O.P.S organization and Co-ed Explorer Scouts and enjoyed many lunches with the Red Hat Ladies. And never forget, a Girl Scout Cookie Chairwoman.

Norma is survived by all eight children and spouses, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James and Walter, father Chet, mother Bea, and sister Bonnie.

Thank you to all her caregivers at Fairfield Village of Layton Assisted Living and a special thank you to Jaycie Hayden and Nurse Seong who cared for our Mom as though she was family.
