Norma Lorraine Ruffell Farley

January 30, 1939 – April 18, 2021 (age 82)

The world has lost an elect lady and Heaven is rejoicing to receive our beloved Norma. She passed away peacefully in the early morning on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Heber, UT. Norma was born on January 30, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Percival Armstrong Ruffell and Lorraine Althea Christensen Ruffell.

Norma spent most of her childhood in Lindon and although she suffered from polio, she was very active and was often found playing in the tops of trees, even in lightning storms, where she savored the views that vantage point provided. Norma graduated from Pleasant Grove High School then attended the Colorado School of Floral Design in Denver, Colorado.

On November 15, 1957, Norma married her sweetheart, Lewis Blaine Farley in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Together they raised seven children who will remember their mother’s unconditional love, practical parenting, and her youthful spirit.

Norma enjoyed spending time in her gardens, sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, and making beautiful floral arrangements. Norma loved the time she spent with her family and friends and her family was her treasure in this world. Throughout her life Norma embodied true Christ-like service. She was always giving of the abundance of her garden, donating her time to Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and with the Foster Grandparents Program. Norma shared her many talents through the church choir and her many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was a faithful member. Norma served with an open heart and she was a blessing to all she encountered and will be dearly missed.

Norma is survived by five children, son, Dean Richard Farley of Clinton, UT; son in law, Neil Cowan (Barbara) of Macon, GA: daughter, Dawna Farley of Heber, UT; son, Larry Blake Farley (Jayne) of Orem, UT; son, Gary Robert Farley (Dee) of Honolulu, HI; daughter, Julie Ann Farley (Angel) of Apopka, FL; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; as well as five brothers and one sister, George Ruffell of Sandy, UT; William (Bill) Ruffell (Irene) of Delco, ID; Fred Ruffell of Salt Lake City, UT; Shirley Potter (John) of Herriman, UT; James (Jimmy) Ruffell (Mary) of Delco, ID. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Percival and Lorraine Ruffell, her husband, Lewis Blaine Farley, two children, son, Ray Lewis Farley, daughter, Barbara Farley Cowan, two daughters in law, Carla Farley (Dean) and Mary Farley(Ray), as well as brothers, Dennis Ruffell, Richard Ruffell, Robert Ruffell and sisters, Marianne Ruffell and Elaine Ruffell Theurer.
