Norma C Farrell

Norma C. Farrell OGDEN - Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Norma C. Farrell, returned home to her Father in Heaven on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Norma was born on November 5, 1924, in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Charles William and Myrtle Douglas Cross. Norma was educated through the Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School. She was a beautiful singer, and sang in numerous musical events as she went through school. She attended Weber State University on a music scholarship, where she received her Associate Degree. She sang in a women's choral group, known as the Musettes, while in college, and she sang for many years with another group known as The Celeste Singers. She was also a member of La Dianeda Sorority. She worked at the Ogden Arsenal, Ogden City Schools, and L.R. Samuels, where she did some modeling for the store. Norma married her high school sweetheart, Glen Farrell, on June 21, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had two sons and two daughters. The greatest heartache in her life was losing her son, David, when he was 16, after a long battle with Cancer. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Waterfall Canyon Ward at the time of her death. She served in several Relief Society Presidencies, as well as many other callings. Norma loved cooking, and was especially known for her homemade candy, which she would share with all her children, friends and neighbors, as well as her potato salad and cinnamon rolls. She also loved working in the yard with her husband. Norma greatly loved her children and grandchildren, always thinking of nice things she could do for them. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She and her husband were married for 65 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband - they had been on eight cruises and many trips throughout the United States. She also enjoyed her membership in the Child Culture Club, and served as the President for two years. Norma is survived by her son, Dr. Scott (Janis) Farrell, North Salt Lake, UT; and two daughters, Nancy (Dan) Wallwork, Huntsville, UT; and Diane Farrell (John) Vandel, Scottsdale, AZ; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son, David, and three sisters, Margaret Kotter, Ruth Giles, and Charlene Bruce. She will be greatly missed by her family. "We love you, Mom." Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Waterfall Canyon Ward, 3254 Polk Ave. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
