Norma W. Fowler, our loving and kind wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home in Syracuse, Utah at the age of 82. She was born April 16, 1934 in Syracuse, Utah, to Victor and Blanche Smith Waite. She married her sweetheart, Merlyn Fowler of Richfield, Utah on September 4, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 63 years.
She attended school in Davis County and graduated from Davis High School. She spent the majority of her life in Syracuse, living two years in Farmington and a brief amount of time in Provo.
She worked at a department store and as a dental receptionist. After the birth of her first children, she spent the rest of her life as a homemaker. Her family was the most important thing to her. She was very selfless and always a great support to her husband, children and grandchildren.
Norma had great faith in Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she served in many callings within the ward and stake, some of which were Primary President, Ward Relief Society Counselor and Stake Relief Society Secretary. One of her favorite callings was serving as a Stake Missionary with her husband in Clearfield and Syracuse. She loved being around the full-time missionaries, taking them to the temple and their various appointments.
Norma had a real talent for making friends and seemed to know when someone needed a kind word or listening ear.
She and Merlyn have four children, Merlene Woodard (Danny) of West Point, UT, Norman W. (Martha) of Monument, CO, LeAnn Fowler of Syracuse, UT and Reid W. (Laura) of Kaysville, UT. They also have eight grandsons and three great-grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, children, and brother, Golden Waite.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Victor Smith and Gary Waite, and sister Nelda Valantine.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Brighton Hospice team for their compassionate and loving care.
