Norma Jean Guffey
SYRACUSE – Norma Jean Guffey, 69, passed away Friday, September 18, 2009.
She was born September 21, 1939 in Salt Lake City, a daughter of William and Rosetta Hargis.
On May 25, 1956, Norma Jean married Gerold William Guffey.
She was employed at the Utah Transit Authority for 17 years.
Norma Jean loved spending time with her children. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and loving her grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing, and crocheting.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry, one daughter and three sons, Kathy (Wally) Wood, Richard (Rauni) Guffey, Kenneth (Carrie) Guffey, Clint (Jodi) Guffey, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, George Hargis and Virginia Grange.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
The family expresses thanks to Dr. Shields and Dr. Olson for her care, North Davis Hospital, and the Syracuse Fire Department, police officers and ambulance service.
At Jean’s request, no formal services will be held.
A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, September 21 at 1 p.m. at the family home, 1604 South 2500 West in Syracuse.
Cremation under the direction of Lindquist’s Crematory.
Inurnment, Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at the Tabiona, Utah Cemetery.
