Norma Leigh King
OGDEN – Our loving mother and grandmother was released from her earthly body on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 and is now enjoying her reunion with her eternal sweetheart, mother, father and siblings.
She was born October 22, 1923 in Ogden, to Mable Palmer and Guyle Leigh. She attended Ogden City Schools graduating from Ogden High School.
Norma married her high school sweetheart, John DaVern King on June 24, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many church capacities, particularly loving the Primary and being a Visiting Teacher.
Norma loved to crochet and garden, but most of all being with her family. She was a constant support to her children and grandchildren in their ball games, music recitals, school activities, etc.
Mother was never anything but a sweet spirited and a kind person. Everyone who knew her loved her. Mom loved being a mother and staying home and raising her four children. Later she was employed in the Children’s Department at Fred M. Nye, retiring after 19 years of service.
Surviving are her two sons and two daughters, Dennis (Connie) King, Brent (Marlene) King, Pam (Wayne) Hayes, all of South Ogden; Diana Scott, of North Ogden; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Norma in death were her husband John, three brothers, one sister, and two grandsons, Ryan Barker and Lonnie Sickles.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
