Norma Hymas Rogers of Layton passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 22, 2018. She was 85 years old.
She was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Liberty, Idaho to Solomon Thomas and Genevieve Thornock Hymas. Her father passed away the year she was born. Her mother later married Otto Krusell, who raised the family along with his own. She is the seventh of eight children. She grew up in Montpelier, Idaho, with her parents, five brothers, two sisters and many stepbrothers and stepsisters.
She married Lavell Washington Rogers on Aug. 14, 1951. The family moved around for nine years with the U.S. Marine Corps and 11 years with the U.S. Air Force. They retired in 1968 and made their home in Layton. Her sweetheart died in July 1993.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, reading, gardening, and watching football.
She is survived by her one son and two daughters: Guy Rogers, Jeanie (Steve) Aylor, and Dawn (Dave) Goatcher. She has seven grandchildren: Casey (Stacy) Ripple, Rhett (Lana) Williams, Landon (Lexi) Aylor, Marisa Aylor, Janet (Dennis) McNeeley, Jason (Sierra) Rogers, and Jennifer (Matt) Marquez. She has twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lavell, her son Ray, daughter-in-law Easa, her parents and many siblings.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Rd. Layton. Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden, Utah.
