SOUTH OGDEN a€" Norma Pauline Gibbs Stimpson 88, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 of natural causes.

She was born September 9, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Smith and Hulda Korth Gibbs. She was reared in Harper Ward and Brigham City. Norma graduated from Box Elder High School and L.D.S. Business College, and attended night school at Weber State College.

She married Irvin Stimpson, December 6, 1952 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in February of 1973 in the Ogden L.D.S. Temple.

Norma was a member of the South Ogden 65th and 5th Wards where she was a leader in Junior Sunday School and teacher in Relief Society. She also served as Stake Music Chairman in the South Ogden Stake and Music Chairman and Music Conductor in her ward. She was later a member of the Harrison Regent Branch.

She loved music and sang in many musical groups over the years. She was a member of the Celeste Singers for 15 years.

She served as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in the Ogden City School District for 40 years, during which time she was president of the Ogden Educational Secretaries'' Association and Utah Educational Secretaries'' Association. She was a past PTA President, a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of the Ladies Association of the Ogden Golf and Country Club.

She spent the last years of her life enjoying the love and companionship of her grandchildren and supporting them in their church, music, school and athletic endeavors. She attended many soccer, baseball, football and basketball games, sitting in the grandmothers'' cheering section. They were the light of her life.

Norma is survived by her son Greg (Jennifer), three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Cord and Luke Stimpson; two step-grandchildren Ryker & Gabe Geary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, three brothers, and five sisters.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staffs at Apple Village and Wasatch Care Center and particularly to Applegate Hospice for all their love and kindness and the dignity they showed to Mom during her final months.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
