Norma Jean West
Norma Jean West, age 90, died in Layton, UT, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Born February 3, 1924, in Jackson, MI, to Leora and Glen Iveson, she graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in Toledo, OH. Jean served in the Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War at Great Lakes, IL, attaining the rank of Ensign. She worked as a registered nurse at W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MI. On October 21, 1956, she married Robert (Bob) West.
Bob and Jean moved to Van Wert, OH in 1961 where Bob served as Administrator and Jean as a registered nurse at the newly opened Van Wert County Hospital. Jean later worked at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN as a registered nurse and head of Infection Control. They spent many happy years in Van Wert, raising their family, until retiring to Ocala, FL in 1989.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert West and brothers Max and Robert Iveson. Survivors include daughter, Judy Lindsey and husband Kevron of Layton, UT and son, Richard West and wife Vicki of Raleigh, NC. Also, granddaughters Kristin and Kaitlin Lindsey of Salt Lake City, UT.
A private service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband Robert.
