Norman Jay Boatright
LAYTON a" Norman Jay Boatright, 84, passed away Wednesday, October3, 2012 at his home.
He was born October 8, 1927 in Paul, Idaho the son of Thomas Carl and Lillie Emily Snow Boatright. Moved to Layton, Utah 1943 where he met his beautiful wife of 62 years.
He attended Davis High School. Norman served in the Army during World War II.
He married Edith M. Stephens on December 27, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 12, 1964.
Norman worked as a Jet Engine Inspector at Hill Air Force Base retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Layton Park Ward serving in various callings, High Priest, Cub Scouting Program and Home Teacher.
Norman and his wife enjoyed company of friends every morning for breakfast at McDonalds. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and being with his family. Norman and Edith were snowbirds traveling to Arizona for 20 winters. Surviving are his wife Edith M. Boatright, sons, Craig Jay (Susan) Boatright, Layton; Kelly Ray (Suzanne) Boatright, Layton; Kent Dee (Teresa) Boatright, Clinton; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and sister Tomean Simonson.
Preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Kate, Blanche, Georgia and Marjorie.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
