Norman Ashbell Dean

Norman Ashbell Dean, age 89, passed away peacefully due to incidents of age on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.  Norman (Norm) was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie (Yvonne) Louise Simpson Dean; one brother, David Howard (Norma), and his parents Ashbell David and Birdie Ramsay Dean.  Norman was also preceded in death by his two sons:  Jeffrey Norman (Margarita) and Steven Russell.  Norman is survived by his daughter Diana (Rick) Coleman, of St. George, Utah; his brother Lynn (Dorothy “Dottie” deceased); and sister Betty Lou (James “Johnny”) Johnson.  Norm had no grandchildren, but had many nieces and nephews that he loved and cared for as his own.  Norman served in the Merchant Marines at the end of World War II, during which time he came home to Salt Lake City to marry his love, Bonnie.  After his service with the Merchant Marines, he worked for Chevron as an inspector and supervisor until his retirement in 1988.  Norman was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in his wards in Rose Park and later in Bountiful.  Norm will be missed by many, but is finally with his beloved Bonnie again.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Lindquist Mortuary in Bountiful.  (727 N. 400 E. Bountiful, UT  84010)  A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. with the funeral service starting at 11:00.  Norman will be buried next to his wife in the Salt Lake Cemetery following the funeral.
