Norman Roland Farr

October 12, 1920 ~ August 11, 2016

Norman Roland Farr, 95, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at home of causes incident of age.  He was born on October 12, 1920 in Ogden, Utah, the son of James Roland and Miriam Rowbotham Farr.  He joined the Navy and served our Country valiantly during World War II as an Electronics Mate 2nd Class.  Other than while serving in the military, Norman lived all of his life in the Ogden area.

Norman married his sweetheart, Neta Elizabeth England on January 21, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Neta passed away on November 13, 2006.

Norman was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently as the Ward Clerk, Bishopric Counselor, Bishop, High Councilman, High Priest Instructor, Home Teacher, and as Stake Patriarch for 31 ½ years.

He was active in his community having served on the Riverdale City Planning Commission and City Council.  Norman worked at the United States Post Office and Hill Air Force Base.  He was also a member of the Riverdale Lions Club, Lowry Organ Group (Piano Gallery).

Norman enjoyed trains, model cars, photography, woodworking, water colors, duck hunting, and being a private pilot.

Surviving are his four sons, one daughter, and daughter-in-law, Wayne (Pam), Heber City; Mike – deceased (Mary) Farr, Hooper; Lowell (Jan), Hooper; Suzanne (Alan) Gailey, South Weber; Don (LuAnn), Riverdale; and Darrel (Lauri), Gilbert, AZ; 38 grandchildren, 116 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gail Sheffield and Andrea Heaps.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Neta; son, Miland “Mike” Richard Farr; father and mother; and brothers, Richard Francis Farr and Wendell Alvin Farr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale Stake Center, 4000 Parker Dr.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
