Norman Morris Lund

July 28, 1926 ~ March 3, 2015

Our loving Patriarch of our family Norman M. Lund, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, due to causes incident to age.  Norman was born on July 28, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Carl Christian and Petra Miller Lund, one of six sons and three daughters.  He lived his life in consistent service and work. At the early age of six to help his family he sold newspapers and magazines on the street corners of Ogden.  He later worked at Farr’s Ice Cream across from their family home.  He graduated from Ogden High School and soon married the love of his life LaRae Doxey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 7, 1944.  They were the parents of three children, Norman Jr., Karen, and Karla.  Soon after their marriage, Norman served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in Saipan and the South Pacific.  After returning from the war he worked at Gould National Battery as a supervisor, Hill Air Force Base, Defense Depot Ogden, and retired from the U.S.P.S. in 1989.  He has lived a life of consistent service to his family, his community and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He had a strong testimony of the Savior and the restored Gospel.

His service in the Church includes a Stake Mission, several High Councils, Bishoprics, and Bishop in the Ogden 6 th Ward, and as an Ordinance Worker and Sealer in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple.

Norman was always a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who always put service to others above his own needs.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norman is survived by his two daughters, who devotedly cared for him to the end.  Karen (Clifton) Strait, Perry, Utah; Karla (Fred) Quintana, North Ogden, Utah; 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; two sisters, Lillian Coburn, Hawaii; and Marian Perrenoud, Brigham City, Utah.  He was preceded in death by his wife, LaRae; son, Norman Jr.; granddaughter, Emily Strait; parents, five brothers, David, Winton, Bryan, Frank, and Marvin; and one sister, Evelyn Hill.

We will say our goodbyes to our loving father, grandfather, and friend at a Graveside Service on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
