Norman Kent Moyes

8/15/1941 ~ 1/7/2014

Alma 37: 6-7: ...I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. 7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes;

Norman Kent Moyes, 72, peacefully passed away on January 7, 2014, near high noon, surrounded by his loved ones. Kent, or Dad to many, was a simple person and yet he brought about great changes to so many countless lives. Dad lived a life where he was a friend to all; always quick with a smile, a keen sense of humor and put everyone he came in contact with at ease.

Dad was born on August 15, 1941, and grew up in Ogden, UT and was the oldest of two sons (Mike) to Norman Kay and Fern Kennedy Moyes who are both deceased. He later married Diane Driggs Rich (deceased) of Ogden, UT and together they had seven children. Initially living in Woods Cross, UT and later Sandy, UT.

Dad always had an entrepreneurial spirit and spent most of his career in the leasing and finance business.  Dad loved the outdoors and spending time with his family in this environment.  He passed that love of outdoors on to all of his children. Dad always stated his greatest source of pride and joy was his children and grandchildren.  He loved spending time with them on Strawberry Reservoir, camping in the Uintah’s, or just at a family party regaling his kids with his wisdom and humor. Dad always stated how much he loved all of his sons and daughters-in-law and could not have chosen better individuals and the feeling was reciprocated a hundredfold.

Dad is survived by his brother Mike (Diane) Moyes, Hooper, UT; children, Mike (Kim) Moyes, South Jordan, UT; Greg (Leah) Moyes, San Tan Valley, AZ; Michelle (Kirk) Monroe, Lone Tree, CO; Kathy (John) Wieland, San Diego, CA; Lisa (Jon) Soderborg, Stansbury Park, UT; Christina (Jason) Mascarenaz, Herriman, UT; and Brian Moyes, Ogden, UT and twenty grandchildren.

As Dad returns to his Father in Heaven and is greeted by many friends and family, we now truly see “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass”.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
