Norman Smith

Norman “Norm” Wilford Smith passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 after a long battle with cancer and arthritis. He was born March 18, 1935 in Ogden, Utah, to Wilford and Esther Jessop Clough Smith. He lived in Ogden during his youth and attended the Ogden City schools. Norm met Carol Ann Crouch on June 7, 1950. They dated until they were married on December 4, 1954. They lived in Ogden for six years before moving to Roy where Carol still resides. He retired from HAFB after 36 years of service. He enlisted and was active in the National Guard from 1953 to 1961. He loved to watch the Utah Jazz and the Cincinnati “Reds” baseball team. Norm was a man of few words. He enjoyed being with his family especially at the Christmas parties. He was dearly loved by his children and grandchildren. He was a member or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Norm is survived by his wife Carol, two daughters, Denise (Rick) Wilder, Arizona; Cindy (Dan) Johnson, Ogden; three sons, Donald (Missy), West Point; Craig (Sherry), Ogden; Ken (LaNeice), Roy. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and a brother, William “Bill” (Lona) Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Thomas. A special thanks to Dr. Harold Johnson and Dr. Brown and their staffs for all the service they gave on Norm’s behalf. Also, a special thank you to Intermountain Hospice and their staff, Vickie, Ray Lynn, John and Marcos for their special help during the past few months. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. at the South Morgan Cemetery, 355 South State Street. Family will meet with friends for a viewing on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
