Nyla Mae Short
OGDEN – Nyla Mae Searle Short, 76, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 16, 2010.
She was born August 12, 1933 in Vernal, Utah, a daughter of Lester Jay and Grace Duke Searle. She lived most of her life in the Ogden area.
Nyla married Ronald W. Short on January 19, 1951. On April 15, 1970, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sullivan Hollow 2nd Ward.
Nyla worked at Hill Air Force Base and Defense Depot Ogden, retiring from D.D.O.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Ronald D. (Carrie) Short, Micheal R. (Annette) Short, Karla Short and Sheila Short Asbury. She also helped to raise, as her own children, Rhea Searle (Scott) Eldridge and Mitchel W. (Monica) Short. She had 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters, Rex (Kip) Searle, Jack (Sheryl) Searle, Loa (Larry) Chantland, Erla Peterson, and Bonnie (Boyd) Jensen.
She was preceded in by her son Rodney, and grandson Steven, her parents and two brothers Carl and Max.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:30 a.m.
