O. Thomas Hansen
On Friday, August 22, 2008; Dad walked on steady legs and said in a clear voice, “Mother, I’m home.” He was ready to go be with his wife of 55 years – without the physical limitations he has been living with.
O. Thomas Hansen was born in Logan, Utah on December 30, 1933 to Arthur E. and Ester May Olsen Hansen. At the age of 7 he moved to Ogden and lived there until he retired. He graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College and played basketball at both schools. He married Joan Rose on June 5, 1953 in the Logan Temple. Together they raised 4 children. He served in the Korean War shortly after they were married. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 38 years as a Logistics Management Specialist. He traveled all over the world working with the F-16 and the F-4 aircraft sales.
He served in many callings including Bishop of the So. Ogden 80th ward. He loved the people he served, especially the youth. He served 4 full-time missions with his wife. They served in Nashville, Tennessee; Salt Lake Temple Square Mission; Jacksonville, Florida; and at the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitor Center. He was a great example of missionary work to all that knew him.
He is survived by one son and three daughters; Dale T. Hansen, Susan (Martin) Strong, Deanne (Daurel) Barnes, and Sharon (Kent) Brown. He will be greatly missed by his 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He has 5 living sisters: Cleo, Della, Joyce, Evelene and Margie. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, sister Ella Mae, and his brothers, Phil, Dick and Harry.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers Dad would like donations made to the Perpetual Education or the Missionary Funds of the church.
