O.B.Harper
O.B. Harper, formerly of Sweet Home, Oregon, 79, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, in his daughter’s home in Kaysville, Utah surrounded by the love and affection of his children.
He was born June 3, 1929 in Eakly, Oklahoma to Oscar S. and Gertrude Chronister Harper. He married Betty Jo Scroggins on May 20, 1949 and they raised three children together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dirrell Harper, and a beloved brother-in-law, Junior Hackworth.
He is survived by his children Dennis R. Harper (Heidi) of Sandy, Utah; Joellen Shumway (Phil) of Kaysville, Utah; and Patrick P. Harper of Midvale, Utah; seven grandchildren; Dennis J Harper (Joleen), Melissa Harper, Jessica Shumway (Ronen), Jennifer Shumway (Jake), Shane Harper, Preston Harper, Tiara Harper, six great-grandchildren and sisters Juanita Bradshaw, Yvonne Bean, Gwenda Hackworth, Barbara Tenbusch and brothers Wayne Harper, Jimmy Harper, and Bud Harper.
A private memorial service will be held under the direction of Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
The family wish to express their appreciation to the exceptional staff of VistaCare Hospice especially nurse, Marie and CNA Tania for compassionate and loving care offered to dad and his care giving daughter. The family also wants to express appreciation to Jan, Hospice volunteer.
