Olene Baker
LAYTON – Olene Baker age 86, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008, at her home.
She was born on July 5, 1922, in Redmond, Utah the daughter of Cyrus Peter and Jensine Sorensen Jensen.
She met Dale H. Baker while working as a bookkeeper in Salt Lake City, marrying on May 31, 1946, in New Jersey, later solemnized in the Mesa, AZ Temple.
Olene, Dale and family spent their first 20 years traveling to different Air Force Bases, eventually moving to Layton, opening Baker’s Jewelry.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a Relief Society President, in Primary Presidencies and Visiting Teacher.
She enjoyed golf, genealogy, TV game shows, baseball, Utah Jazz and trips to Bear Lake.
Olene was a loving mother and grandmother, who gave all she could.
Surviving are her children, Scott D. (Dianne) Baker, So. Ogden; Paul (Etta) Baker, Huntsville; Dalene (Baker) Cloyd, Mtn. Green; sister Lois Gentile, St. George; brother Billy, St. George; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Hollis Baker, brother Allen Jensen, and great-grandchild Jensina Hardy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Mt. Green Cemetery.
