Olin W. Howard

LAYTON a€" Olin W. Howard, 72, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home of cancer.

He was born January 25, 1939 in Staunton, Indiana, a son of Lee and Kathleen Lawson Howard.

He was raised on a farm. He later served with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961.

Olin moved to Ogden where he met and later married Shirley Ricketts on July 22, 1961 in Washington Terrace. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2011.

He was a Born Again Christian.

Olin retired from Barnes Aerospace as a tool and die maker.

He took pride in his Dutch oven cooking. Olin was an avid outdoorsman a€" fishing, hunting and camping. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter, Martin Howard, Layton; Carl Howard, Grand Junction, CO; Micheal Howard, AZ; Coleen (Lonnie) Gale, Harrisville; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Olin is also survived by his sister, Beverly (David) Nield, Layton.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Shirley, and his brother Bill Howard

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road where Military Honors will be accorded.
