Our dear wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Olive May Jones, went home to be with her beloved Lord on Friday, August 31, 2007.
She was born November 30, 1920 in Gooding, Idaho to Thomas A. Hume and Margherita Henry Hume Carpenter. She was raised and educated in Gooding, Idaho. She graduated form Bonneville High School in Ogden and then attended Weber State University.
Olive worked in civil service for the United States Government at Fort Douglas, in Salt Lake City; the Federal Finance Office in Ogden; Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma; The Veterans''s Administration in Boise, Idaho; and the Ogden Arsenal, Hill Air Force Base. She was the secretary at Park View Elementary, MarLon Hills Elementary and also worked at the Ogden Standard Examiner.
She and her sweetheart, Harry Paul Jones or "Jonesy" had two children, Paula and Mark.
Olive was a charter member of the Christian Business and Professional Women of Ogden, a member of The Explorers Bible Study and a leader for many years, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She met the Lord God and knew the newness of life while in Lawton, Oklahoma. She knew this was when she was born anew, and her eternal life began then. She was a member of the Washington Heights Baptist Church where she loved their "keenagers" Sunday School class, enjoyed working on the Wednesday night "kitchen crew", and loved people a" young and old.
Mom had a great love and passion for her family, reading and always helping others. We will miss you greatly!
Olive is survived by her husband "Jonsey" of Ogden; daughter Paula (Dale) Whittle; Mark (Becky Mason) Jones; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren, who all brought great joy to her life; several nephews, nieces and cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marian Taylor, brother, William Hume, and two granddaughters, Leslie and Ruthie Whittle.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 7th at 11 a.m. at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 1770 East 6200 South.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Inurnment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch at a later date.
The family wants to express their deep appreciation and love to Hospice Alliance, Helping Hands, and all the many dear family and friends who tenderly and lovingly support our family. Thank you.
