Opal M. Larsen
OGDEN – Opal Marble Larsen, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed from this life on Saturday, April 14, 2007. She faced a terrible disease with dignity and courage and on her own terms.
Opal was born April 16, 1928 in Central, Utah, to Russell Benjamin and Bethena Lay Marble.
She was married to Edward H. Larsen on September 18, 1948. He preceded her in death in December of 1985.
Opal moved to Ogden from Central in 1943 and lived in the Ogden area until 1968 when she and Ed moved the family to Clearfield. She lived there until 1990. Later she lived in Layton, Roy and Ogden.
In 1979 she retired from the Layton Post Office where she enjoyed her work and had many friends.
Opal was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was most recently a Service Missionary.
Opal is survived by her sons, Phil (Sharalyn) Larsen, Spearman, TX; Neil (Paula) Larsen, Clinton; William David (Cheryl) Larsen, Layton; Don (Connie) Larsen, Slaterville; Glen H. Larsen, Portland, OR; daughters Carol (Kirk) Babbitt, Bloomington, IL; and Patricia (Mark) Reed, Roy. She was grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She dedicated her entire life to her children and grandchildren, and they were her greatest joy.
Also surviving are her sister, Emily Spencer, Ogden; and brothers Golden Marble, Ogden; and Stephen (JoAnn) Marble, Hooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Waterfall Canyon Ward, 3254 Polk Avenue.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
