Oren Hubbard

September 24, 1922 — February 22, 2019

Our dear Father, Grandpa, and “Grandpa Great”, brother and friend peacefully left this mortal existence on Friday, February 22, 2019. He is now reunited with his cherished wife Darlene with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2001.

Oren was born at home in Ogden, Utah on September 24, 1922 to Jesse LeRoy Hubbard and Sarah Estelle Beecher.  He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1940. While attending high school he met the love of his life Darlene Marie Spencer.  They were married on June 5, 1941 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

They enjoyed, camping, exploring the United States, square dancing, and round dancing. Through the years they were blessed with six children and as a family they enjoyed spending time together, especially picnics on the beach. Oren also enjoyed hunting and fishing and other activities with his lifelong friends.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Coast Guard. He served aboard the USS Dionne, protecting merchant ship convoys from German submarines along the East Coast of the United States.

He was a master mechanic and could fix anything!  Following the war, he worked as an electronics technician for several companies and at various locations where his superb technical skills were always appreciated. He retired from the Unisys Corporation in Carlsbad, Ca.

Oren was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was always serving others. He was a man of great faith and had a firm testimony of the gospel and of his Savior.

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandchild. He is survived by his sister Ida Hoggan, six children, Janet Krauser (Charles), Nancy Bryan (Merill), Michael Hubbard, Scott Hubbard (Susan), Pamela Moeller (Ken), Sharon Hubbard, 19 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
