Orlinda Olivama Sanchez

August 17, 1948 - January 17, 2021

Orlinda Olivama Sanchez - Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and a superwoman passed away Sunday January 17, 2021 surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.

She was born August 17, 1948 in Westcliffe, Colorado to Arthur and Bernice Sanchez moving to Utah at an early age living in Layton most of her life.

She graduated from Davis High School in 1966 and married Mike Valdez from which she had two daughters Dina and Bonnie and later divorced. She then went on to work for Mountain Bell (Quest) Phone Company where she met Phil Jones and remarried in 1982, later divorcing after 10 years. After 30 years service with the Phone Company she retired in 2001 spending time with her family whom she loved very much, she also enjoyed going to Wendover, Coloring, and doing things she loved to do.

After her long battle with cancer she will now be reunited with her father, mother and sister whom she loved very much.

She was survived by her Brothers Lee Sanchez (Dorothy), and Arthur Sanchez Jr., and her daughters Dina Shepherd (Valdez), and Bonnie Guzman (Valdez) her grandchildren, Tiffany Sorensen (Franky), Gaven Sorensen, Aaron Sorensen (Tawni), Arianna Guzman, and Zackary Craig (Cheyenne) and 9 great-grandchildren and also her nephews and nieces Joey DeHerrera, Christie DeHerrera Hayes (Robert), Lisa Sanchez, and Rick DeHerrera.

Preceded in death by her father and mother Arthur Ray Sanchez and Bernice Sanchez, sister Dorothy DeHerrera (Joe) and her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express our thanks and wonderful great care given by Rocky mountain hospice especially by Maria Luna Flores and Dorothy Sanchez and anyone else who supported us through this tough time.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
