LAYTON a€" Orsen Reuben Christensen Jr., 85, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011.

He was born September 1, 1926 at Mendon Court in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Orsen Reuben and Anna Kathrine Felix Christensen. He spent most of his adult life in the Layton area.

He sailed around the world several times as a Merchant Marine during World War II and was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Orsen married Ellen LaVon Torgerson on December 27, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Copenhagen, Denmark and was very involved with the Boy Scout program for many years.

He enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, traveling and in his later years was well read and rested. He appreciated his backyard and had great times with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was very supportive of his children during their formative years.

Surviving are his sons, Kevin, Bruce, Gary (Annie), daughters, Pamela (Terry) Talbot, Shauna (Joe) Hurst, Tracy (Kevan) Jacobson, Ruthann (Brad) Groneman, 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother, C. Ned Christensen, and sister, Bernice Bywater.

Preceded in death by his wife, daughter-in-law, Allison, four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
