Orville Richard DeVore
CLEARFIELD a" Orville Richard DeVore, 76, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007.
Orville was born September 3, 1931 in Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin the son of Ernest Edward and Mabel M. Bucher DeVore.
Orville was raised in Wisconsin and attended the public schools there in a one room school house. He moved to Utah at the age of 19 where he has resided since. He has enjoyed spending his winters in Quartzsite, Arizona. He married Joyce MacKay on August 20, 1954. They later divorced. He married Zandra L. Ellsworth on November 17, 1973 in Elko, Nevada.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church who held various callings, some of which included serving in Elders Quorum Presidencies, High Priest Group Leader and Sunday School Superintendant. He enjoyed doing Temple Work.
Orville served in the U.S. Army and retired from Hill Air Force Base after 36 years of service.
He was a Scout Commissioner, Scout Leader and attained Silver Beaver Award. He delivered bakery products to the needy, friends and seniors. He went on many motorcycle trips, and also enjoyed boating and camping with friends. Orville loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and thought it was great that he lived to enjoy his great-grandchildren.
Orville enjoyed leatherwork, macramAC., raising rabbits and loved playing pool. He was an artist in scroll sawing and almost all his friends and relatives have some of his work. Working in his vegetable garden was always his favorite.
Surviving are his mother Mabel, wife Zandra, sons, Douglas (Sheri), Duane, Allan (Kori), Terry (Sonja), Bradley (Dave), Michael Moore, step-sons, Kevin Combe, David Thon, twenty grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one on the way, seven brothers, Walter (Norma), Roy (Alice), Lynn (Susan), Dale (Julie) Dean, Ernest (Dianne) Keith (Nancy), five sisters, Elaine (Mike) Roberts, Vivian (Orrin) Hansen, Helen (Glen) Openshaw and Becky, sister-in-law, Betty Allredge and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, sister Barbara, two brothers, Earl and Ray, brother-in-law, Mel Herbert, sister-in-law, Shirley DeVore, twin sisters who died at birth and granddaughter, Brittany.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 4th Ward, 838 E. 600 So. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, South Ogden.
