Oscar Leo Briggs 1923-2009 Oscar Leo Briggs passed away 24 June 2009 from complications due to surgery. Oscar Was born 22 Sept 1923 in Holbrook, Idaho to Frank LeRoy and Elizebeth (Lizzie) Holbrook Briggs. He was raised in Bountiful Utah, attending Primary and secondary schools there and graduating from Davis High in 1942. Oscar married Cleo Lambert of West Point, UT, Sept 9 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the US Army from 1943-1945 was wounded in the Battle of Luzon. After the war Oscar worked at the Clearfield Navy Supply Depot (now Freeport Center), and Hill AFB, retiring in 1974 with 31 years of Civil Service. They made their home in Clearfield in 1957. Oscar and Cleo enjoyed many winters in Az. until health kept them in Utah. He is survived by his Wife Cleo, one son Dale (Barbara) Briggs of Layton, UT, one granddaughter Jacqueline (Scott) Mahar Abilene TX, one grandson Michael Lynn (Brenda) Briggs Hooper UT, three Great Grandsons and three Great Granddaughters. “He fought a hard fight but leaves a grand posterity”. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Family and friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Disabled American Veterans Association may be made. The family would like to express their gratitude to the surgical nursing staff on the second floor of McKay Dee Hospital.
