Owen U. Wayment
WARREN – Owen Urry Wayment passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at his home in Warren, Utah.
He was born May 28, 1921 in Warren, Utah, to Alice Urry and Albert Bullock Wayment.
Owen married Ruth Mary Roghaar in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 15, 1944.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed golfing with his friends.
Owen graduated from Weber High School and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for a short time at Hill Air Force Base before beginning his lifelong career as a dairy farmer. In addition to farming, he worked for the Weber School District for 32 years. He was a bus driver and completed his career as Supervisor of Transportation.
Owen loved the Lord and demonstrated this by his many years of faithful service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including Bishop and Temple Sealer. Following his retirement he served a mission for the church with his wife in Jackson, Mississippi. They then served together for several years in the Ogden LDS Temple.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth of Warren; five children, Timothy (Connie) Wayment, West Haven; Susan (LaVell) England, Warren; O. Scott (Susan) Wayment, Warren; Terry (Kathy) Wayment, West Point; Leasa Wayment, Plain City; 23 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and one sister, Shirley (Kenneth) Barrow, West Warren.
He was an honorable man who was dearly loved by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Warren Ward Chapel, 856 North 5900 West, Warren.
Friends and family may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday, October 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Warren Cemetery, Warren, Utah.
