P. Steenblik

P. Kent Steenblik, 63, Kaysville, passed peacefully Wednesday July 20, 2016 surrounded by family.

Kent was born December 21, 1952 in Salt Lake City to Joseph, and Georgine Steenblik.  Kent and his family lived in Livermore California, before spending two years in the Netherlands and Germany, then returning to the States.  Kent served an eastern states LDS mission, where, in New Jersey, he met Susan, whom he married June 19, 1975 in Caldwell, New Jersey.  After marrying, they moved back to Utah where Kent began a lifelong career in carpentry, and fatherhood.  Shortly after, they moved to Kaysville, where Kent built his family a home.  He enjoyed sailing, and put his carpentry skills to the test when he built a sailboat in his garage.  Kent was forced into retirement after a life threatening automobile accident outside Huntsville Alabama that left him with a broken back, and an overabundance of free time.  So of course, Kent being the man he was, built a deck in his backyard while recovering from back surgery.

If there was anything Kent could not fix, it couldn’t be fixed, or it was a computer.  He would never hesitate to drive thirty miles to deliver a spare car key, or change a car battery.  Half of the basements in his neighborhood are finished now because not helping was never an option.

Kent is survived by his wife, Susan, and children Daniel (Abby), Katie (William), Kyle (Carleigh) and Aidan (Raili).  By his Grandchildren, Odelia, Harrison, Holden, Nelly Jane, Jameson, Oliver, Arden, Quaylin, and Rex, a ninth expected grandchild.  By his Mother Georgine and siblings Randy (Kathy), Shauna (Logan), Shellie (Ken), Jana (Jason), his father-in-law Daniel Mawhinney, and his dog Dune.  His father Joseph, who passed in July 2015, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Spencer Ward, 500 South Main.  Friends may visit family Saturday 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
