Patrica Rabi Arciaga "Gramma Pat"
LAYTON - Our darling little mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Patricia Rabi Arciaga, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 29, 2009, at the McKay Dee Hospital surrounded by family and close friends, after falling at her home. She was born in Basey Samar, Tacloban Leyte, Philippines to Geronimo Rabi and Rosario Martinez Rabi on March 12, 1924, the first of 12 children. On September 8, 1945 she married Pedro Casem Arciaga, who was stationed in the Philippines during the war. After residing in the Philippines for several years; they had two daughters, Judy and Norma. In 1948, she and her two young girls immigrated to the United States to join Pedro, who was being released from the Army. They settled in Arsenal Villa Roy, Utah in 1950 where Jimmy was born and then moved to Layton in 1956 where they added two more children, Barbara and David. She resided there until her death. Gramma Pat went to work at the old St. Benedicts Hospital in 1961 in the laboratory, and retired in 1986 after it became Ogden Regional. Her career began washing test tubes and ended as a Registered Histologist. Gramma Pat loved her job and the people she worked with. She had an excellent work ethic and they called her back on numerous occasions after she retired to fill in when they needed assistance. She also worked part time at Davis North Hospital after retirement. One of her proudest achievements was receiving her High School Diploma in 1963. Her other great accomplishment was being the last living Charter Member of Layton Hills Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and servant for over 50 years, singing in the choir well into her seventies. Mom was very proud that all her children and siblings had the gift of singing. Gramma Pat is survived by her daughters, Judy (Paul) Holland of Reno, Nevada, Norma (Wayne) Peters of Riverdale, Utah, Barbara (Bill) Hansen of Layton, Utah; sons Jimmy Arciaga of Layton, Utah and David Arciaga of Tallahassee, Florida; 23 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers Antonio Rabi of the Philippines and Manuel Rabi of Layton, Utah, and sisters Lettie Legion of Weslaco, Texas and Nora Go of the Philippines; numerous nieces and nephews, her extended family a" Queenie, Doug, and Gray Aydelott, Yvonne and Mike Purcell, Sarah and Doug Cummings, Bob and Gleria Lepper, Feliciadad Flores, Zenida LaRocco, and many friends who were all very special to her. She was preceded in death by Daddy and 8 brothers and sisters. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital Emergency Room for the excellent care given to Mom.
