Patricia Joanne Katterjohn Atkinson died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Peach Tree Place in West Haven.

Patty was born October 26, 1930 in Evansville, IN, the only living child of Frederick Franklin and Lena Evelyn Owens Katterjohn. The family went to Southern California in 1931 and she lived in Long Beach and La Mirada, CA until moving to Logan, UT in 1996.

She received her AA degree from Long Beach City College and attended UCLA before marrying Richard Paul Atkinson on September 1, 1950 in Long Beach.

Patty joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1955 and was sealed to Dick, Karen and Scott in the Los Angeles Temple on June 30, 1962.

Following the accidental death of her husband in the High Sierra in 1974, Patty worked as a construction secretary in California for 15 years.

She is survived by two children, Karen Dana (Michael) Russell of Rock Hill, SC; Scott David (Cheryl) Atkinson of Hooper, UT; grandchildren, Shannon Marie (Steven) Smellie, Sarah Elaine (Jason) Kimball, Carinne Michelle (Adam) James, Leslie Annette (Christopher) Albrecht, Tyler Richard Atkinson; 15 great-grandchildren, Nyah Chanelle, Carson David, Emery Lyn and Brielle Anne Smellie; Kylie Cherise, McKell Joycelyn, Alaina Karen, and Dylan Mack Kimball; Taylor Marie, Jonathan Alexander, Asher David and Jacob Levi James; Lexi Ann, Abby Lynn Albrecht; and Daxton Tyler Atkinson.

Patty and her family enjoyed spending much time skiing, water skiing and surfing. She also made time to work on community projects, crafts, travel in the US and England and compile their family history.

Patty was a member of the Bear River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Logan 6th & 14th Ward Chapel, 94 West 600 South, Logan. Interment, Logan City Cemetery, conducted by Bishop Alan Cooley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
