Patricia Cooney Calton, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 1, 2007 from the effects of Alzheimer''s, with her loving husband by her side.

She was born November 24, 1930 in the original Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah to John Leo and Thelma Woodmansee Cooney. She lived most of her life in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1949 and the University of Utah in 1953, with a B.S. in Education. While at the University she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She met her future husband, Farrell Marlon Calton, in the fall of 1952 at the University, three days after he was discharged from the Army and Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco after suffering severe hand grenade wounds in North Korea in December of 1951.

They were married July 21, 1955 in Ogden, Utah. She taught school in Ogden for two years before they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Patricia taught 4th grade and Farrell attended medical school at Washington University. After graduation they moved back to Ogden and started their family while Farrell practiced Cardiology.

Patricia was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as the Young Women''s President, Relief Society President, and Primary President. She was also active in the Weber County Medical Auxiliary where she served as President and later served as President of the Utah State Medical Auxiliary.

Her greatest joy in life was raising her five children. She loved being at home and providing tender loving care for each of them. She was a loving and supportive wife of her husband''s demanding profession.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Farrell; five children, Sally Calton, Susan (Doug) Allen, William Calton, Thomas (Alison Bean) Calton , and Ann Calton; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John Leo (Lenore) Cooney, II, and Robert Cooney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her only sister, Gloria Kinne.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6th at 11 a.m. at the Spring Canyon Ward Chapel, 6350 Combe Road.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. The family expresses deep appreciation to Intermountain Homecare and Hospice Services, Spring Canyon Ward Relief Society and special friend, Karen Russell, for all of her compassion and care.
