Patricia Jensen Glad
Patricia Jensen Glad was born November 12, 1935, in Bingham, Utah, to Jacob Henry and Ada Jenkins Jensen. She passed away July 4, 2010, in Layton, Utah, after a valiant struggle with a rare form of cancer.
Pat grew up in Midvale, Utah, and graduated from Jordan High School in 1954. She met her eternal sweetheart, William Lee Glad, while they were both students at the University of Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 30, 1956. Shortly after their marriage, Lee was activated into the Army and they spent the next 13 years traveling the world in the service of their country. In 1973 they settled in Layton, UT where they still reside today. Wherever they have lived they have strengthened the church and touched lives around them.
Pat received her greatest joy from young children starting with her own six, followed by her grandchildren and great-grand children. Her arms enfolded countless girls and boys of all ages who loved her as Grandma Pat or Aunt Pat. She was an active Latter Day Saint all her life, serving as teacher, leader, counselor, and temple worker. Of her many callings, her favorite was that of Nursery Leader.
She loved making her home a peaceful haven for all. She was able to bring joy and happiness to every activity. Pat''s eyes sparkled in a way that made you feel all would be okay.
She loved to bake, cook and make candy. When she wasn''t in the kitchen she was in the yard working in the dirt making the flowers grow, and providing a place for the birds she loved to watch. She enjoyed reading and learning, and encouraged those around her to become their best.
In 1999, Pat helped her sweetheart fulfill his lifelong dream of serving an LDS mission. They were called to the Connecticut Hartford Mission serving for 18 months in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Following their mission, Lee and Pat accepted callings as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple where they have served for nearly 10 years.
Pat is survived by her eternal companion of almost 54 years, Lee; their six children and spouses: Robert (Lisa) Layton, UT; Nancy (Darrell) Hendricks Layton, UT; Mark (Sherrie) Alexandria, VA; Daniel (Shelby) Layton, UT; Deborah (Scott) Barnes Bountiful, UT; and Christopher (Kamala) Bountiful, UT; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many who are considered family in her heart. Pat leaves her family and friends a legacy of unconditional love and service. We want to extend our great appreciation to the employees of Love Home Health Care/Hospice for their loving service these past several months. We also give thanks to Dr. Darin Checketts, Dr. Wade Larsen, Dr. Regina Kline, and the staff of the Cancer Treatment Center, Chemotherapy, and Radiation Labs in Layton, Utah.
