Patricia Hogan was born April 5th, 1939 in Burbank, California to Rulon and Leda Spencer Hogan. She was raised in Burbank. Her parents were both from Utah, so she spent time there visiting grandparents and cousins, which is something she always enjoyed.
She graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1956. On May 14th, 1956 she married Gerald T. Waldvogel and they spent the first 18 months of their marriage in Bad Aibling, Germany as Jerry served in the US Army. They were later sealed in the Bern Switzerland Temple on May 17th, 1957. After they returned from Germany they settled in North Hollywood, California. Over the next several years they welcomed their three children.
Pat and Jerry were very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Pat served in the Young Women’s program and Relief Society. She also received an AA Degree from Valley College in Los Angeles. Pat enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing clothing for her children and celebrating holidays and birthdays.
In July 1981 they moved to Centerville, Utah for what was supposed to be a one-year sabbatical for Jerry who had been working for the LA Unified School District. Jerry eventually accepted a counseling position with Viewmont High and Utah became their permanent home. Pat’s parents eventually joined the family in Utah and she was able to care for them until they both passed away.
Over the next several years, their children got married and she welcomed 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pat loved to be surrounded by her family, all who brought her such great happiness. Pat and Jerry were able to travel extensively for many years, including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and the Eastern US during the fall leaf season. They also traveled with other family members to Disneyland and Disneyworld and many other vacations which she had so many wonderful memories of.
One thing Pat really enjoyed was working in the Humanitarian room at the Centerville South Stake. She worked with many longtime friends there and met many others there who would also become her friends. Her declining health was the only thing that kept her from continuing that work. She passed away March 4th, 2023 in Layton, Utah after a long illness.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Gerald Waldvogel, children Jerilyn Coles (Jeff), Julie Fredrickson (Dave), David Waldvogel (Hope), eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her Spencer cousins whom she considered her brothers and sisters.
