Patrick McGee Gifford
June 22, 1930 ~ April 4, 2018
Patrick McGee Gifford passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 22, 1930 to Moses Elias and Mary Etta Gifford. He was the youngest of six children. He spent his childhood on the family farm in Draper, Utah and graduated from Salt Lake County Schools.
Dad met and then married Joan Murray on November 10, 1955 in the Logan Utah Temple. During their marriage they lived in South Ogden and raised three children. He began working for Nalley’s Food Corporation and spent the remainder of his career working as a salesman for various chemical companies. He and Joan later divorced. On July 3, 1988 he married Marilyn Meyers; that union brought Marilyn’s five adult children who became an important part of his family.
Patrick was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and always had a strong testimony of the Gospel.
Dad was known for his impeccable appearance and was never caught with a hair out of place. He was an immaculate and talented landscaper who shared that talent with many friends and family members to help beautify their yards. Dad’s favorite place to be was at Lake Powell. We will cherish the memories of time spent with him boating in that beautiful part of the world.
Because of Dad, we learned to work hard, and then play hard; always look your best and then help others to always feel good about themselves.
Patrick is survived by his loving and caring wife, Marilyn of Salt Lake City; children, Craig (Stacie) of Texas, Shelly (Howard) Green of South Ogden Lisa (Curt) Hufstetler of South Weber, and Marilyn’s children, Marsha Robertson, Gary Robertson, Kory Robertson, Kevin Robertson, and Robyn Tipetts; 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; his parents; and siblings.
A private family viewing was held on Friday, April 4, 2018.
