Patsy Valee Stander Sabin

Patsy Valee Stander Sabin, age 84, our cherished mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend returned home to her Heavenly Father, parents, siblings, husband, and son Kenneth David on Friday, October 7, 2016 surrounded by family.

Patsy was born on April 10, 1932, in Tremonton, Utah to David Erastus Stander and Mary Viola Newman. She was the youngest of four children. Her mother passed away when Patsy was three years old and she was raised by her maternal grandmother and step-mother, Zina Y. Cutler.

Patsy graduated from Box Elder High and Excelsis Beauty School and was a hair dresser for the majority of her life.

Patsy married her sweetheart Owen Carl Sabin on November 7, 1951 in the Logan Temple and has continued to love and honor him for almost 65 years. Together they have four sons and a daughter, and have built a strong, beautiful family that continues to grow.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life, Patsy fulfilled many callings and served faithfully as a scout leader, primary teacher, and later as a temple worker in the Bountiful Temple. She was a dedicated visiting teacher with her companion of over 30 years. She even made sure to report this month's visiting teaching from her hospital bed.

She loved being at home with her family and her cats and would rather not travel outside of Davis County except to support her grandchildren and family events.

Patsy enjoyed her association with many close friends including those in her local TOPS chapter (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). She was the longest standing member and was thrilled to reach this year's goal weight.

A talented cook, avid reader, prolific canner and skilled seamstress, she always made sure visitors were served before leaving her home. She described herself as a creative speller and she enjoyed root beer floats, tomato sandwiches, black licorice, liver and burnt toast.

She lived to the standard of conduct her father taught her: be honest, pay in cash, and do what you think is right. She lived a life worthy of emulation: always thinking of others, living prudently, and being loyal to her mate.

We love her dearly and will miss her humble nature, her quiet sense of humor, her sentimental blue eyes, and her prayerful heart.

Her legacy will be carried on by her children, Daniel Owen Sabin (Louise), Gary Lynn Sabin (Debbie), John Lavern Sabin (Sandi), and Mary Valee (Scott Bitter); Grandchildren, Ryan, Daren, Brandi, Rand, Shauna, Natalie, Devin, Gary II, Heather, Grayson, Gregory, Gordon, Megan, Jessica, Nicole, Amber, and twenty-two and a half Great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law and best friend Estella Deon Sutton (Rex), and brother-in-law Lynn Joseph Sabin (Barbara), and many life-long friends.

A viewing will be held on  Wednesday, October 12, 2016  from 6 to 8 p.m.  at the Lindquist’s  Kaysville Mortuary , 400 N. Main Street  A brief celebration of life will follow. Dedication of the grave will be held Thursday October 13, at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville City cemetery.
