KAYSVILLE a€" Paul Flint Barber, our husband, father and grandfather, passed away from a lingering illness following many surgeries, peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the age of 61.

Paul was born to Charles Richard and Helen Flint Barber. Paul graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State and the University of Utah. He married Vicky Elizabeth Head on September 5, 1974 in the Salt Lake Temple. He and Vicky are the parents of five children.

Paul spent his career working in various capacities in state government, starting in the office of Salt Lake City Mayor Ted Wilson and then later as consultant and lobbyist for several energy agencies and utilities in the western United States.

Paul was admired by his family and those around him for his deep knowledge gained through his study of volumes of books regarding nearly every topic. He shared his knowledge and other gifts with those he served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern France and Belgium, as well as the many responsibilities he held in the Church throughout his life.

Paul learned from his mother to appreciate all that was beautiful and lovely. In turn he passed those traits to his own children. Paul was a gifted artist, who studied under the late LeConte Stewart. His works grace the homes of his family and many close friends. His works depict the simple beauty of familiar scenes of his childhood and rural Utah.

With his razor-sharp wit, and sly sense of humor, he never ceased striving to teach his children and inspire them to improve, yet he always nurtured a soft spot for his family, particularly his granddaughters.

Paul is survived by his wife Vicky, his daughters, Mary Nicole, Sarah (Brent) Woodson, Emily (Dustin) Checketts and his sons, Jon with partner Michael Johnson, and Timothy James. He is also survived by his four granddaughters, Madelyn, Abigail, Lily, and Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center Street. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the tabernacle.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
