Paul Ferre

January 7, 1949 ~ January 9, 2020

Paul Ferre was born January 7, 1949 in Provo, Utah to Clarence and Norman Fullmer Ferre.  He grew up working alongside his dad and brothers on the family farm in Orem, Utah.  He gained his exceptional work ethic by working with them.

Paul served our country in the Navy as a Sonar Tech during the Vietnam War.  After the war Paul joined the Air Force National Guard, serving for 30 more years.  He deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2000 to survey the communication infrastructure.  Then he was deployed to Qatar to provide essential supply support.  He received numerous meritorious service awards.

Paul’s civilian career was spent working for the Army at Dugway Proving Grounds.  He was supervisor of Toxicological Agent Protective Equipment.  After the death of his beloved wife Gloria, Paul moved to Layton and was a volunteer at the Air Force Museum.  He loved volunteering there, making friends and BS-ing with other veterans.

Paul loved his family above all else.  He is survived by his daughter Penny Lynn (Travis) Tate (Who supported him to the end).  His sons Michael Paul and Juston Jon, sister Jean (Elmo) Hill, brothers Nolan, Shirl (Carol) and Jon (Bernice.  His best friend and companion Shuree Johnston and her family.  He has 12 grandkids and six great grands, many nieces and nephews and his two dogs Peanut and Bandit.  We all love him dearly.

In the early morning hours of January 9, 2020 Paul Ferre lost his hard-fought battle with mesothelioma.  He courageously waged a great war with this disease for 4-1/2 years but in the end he just ran out of ammo and succumbed to this horribly painful cancer.

Paul always said: “When I die I’m leaving my body to science fiction”

There will be a celebration of Paul’s life February 9, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Wiseguys in The Gateway Center in Salt Lake City.  All friends and family invited.
