Paul M. Francom
RIVERDALE – Paul Marcus (LaMar) Francom, 70, passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 in Ogden.
Paul was born November 22, 1936 in Payson, Utah to Ardell “Lane” Williams and Harry Ishmael LaMar. Paul and his sister, Barbara, were later adopted by their stepfather, James Warren Francom on April 24, 1944 and given the Francom name.
Paul graduated from Ogden High School in 1954. He was a member of the Junior Division Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve on November 16, 1954. He was given an honorable discharge on November 2, 1962 after eight years of service with the 45th Special Infantry Company.
He worked with his Dad for Paramount Dairy while in Jr. High School picking up milk from the farmers to take to their dairy. Later he worked for Paramount Bowling Alley as a pin setter and for a short time as a carpenter’s helper for Joe Maylin. Paul went to work as a salesman for appliances and helped in the display department for J.C. Penney Co. in Ogden, Utah. In December of 1955, he took a test for training at National Cash Register Company (NCR). He worked for NCR for the next 39 years retiring in February 1994. He traveled a great deal while working for NCR and had many friends.
Paul married Eleanor Clay on August 8, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had three children: James Paul (Merrillee), Bryant Jade (Michelle) and Shawna (Chad). Eleanor died in a car accident in 1975. He recently married Janeice L. Bingham on October 26, 2006 at Ogden Regional Medical Center prior to a risky surgery that was thought may take his life. He survived the surgery was able to spend precious time with his lovely new wife. This marriage added Janeice’s daughters to his family: Vicky (Kevin), Dena (Doug), Lori (Dee) and their families.
Paul enjoyed motorcycles, woodworking, the outdoors, finding a good place to eat, and visiting with family and friends.
