Paul Robert Clarke, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at age 81, on March 7, 2023, at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Paul was born on December 1, 1941, in Ogden Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Alma and Margaret Davis Clarke, as well as his sister, Mary Margaret Clarke. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dixie Lee Applegarth Clarke, his four children, Brian Keith Clarke (Maria), Kimberly Ann Meechudhone (Ken), David Paul Clarke (Jennifer) and Robert John Clarke (Malori), and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Stephen Davis Clarke (Linda), Edward Mark Clarke (Karen), and Susan Evelyn Reeve (Kenlon).
Paul graduated from Weber State College with a bachelor’s degree in electronics. He earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Utah State University. He worked in the electrical engineering field and eventually started his own company with the help of good friends. He had the opportunity to design advanced computer systems that could withstand temperature changes in flight that were used for military purposes and decided to retire a few years after moving to Las Vegas.
Paul lived in Ogden, Utah, for 28 years; after which he moved his family to Lakewood, California for 21 years, and then to Las Vegas, Nevada for the remainder of his life.
Paul was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his life and dedicated himself to service in many callings, his favorite of which was serving as Scout Master.
Paul was an avid musician and played the coronet and trumpet in many music ensembles and was frequently accompanied on the piano by his incredibly talented and beloved sister, Mary. He was an outstanding athlete and particularly enjoyed golfing in his later years. He enjoyed traveling with his sweet wife, Dixie. They traveled all over the world together and had the time of their lives. Paul devoted most of his time during his later years to participating in family events with his children and grandchildren. Those memories will live on in the hearts of his family. Paul enjoyed making others feel loved and heard. He took the time to truly listen. He somehow made all of our lives a little better. Paul will be sorely missed by many friends and family members, and we look forward to our glorious reunion with him.
