Paul Warren Shields

February 5, 1934 ~ June 15, 2014

Paul Warren Shields passed away on June 15, 2014 from complications of pneumonia.  He was born in Niangua, MO, but grew up in Carmichael, CA.  In 1952 he moved to Arcata, CA where he received his Master’s Degree in Wildlife Management and Range Management.  In 1958 he was employed by the USDA Forest Service as the first Wildlife Biologist for the Sierra National Forest in Fresno, CA.  After spending a couple years doing desk work in the San Francisco area, he made the move to Ogden, UT in 1972 as Regional Biologist and Wildlife Program Manager for the Intermountain Region.  He retired in 1994 to live out on the Marsh as much as he could.  He was fortunate enough to be a part of several Canada Goose Hunts and bird hunting trips with many good friends.  He spent many happy years as a guide for Bear River Duck Club.

Paul was married to Nancy in 1952.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years and four daughters, Sue (Ray Loera), Huntington Beach, CA; Janice (Jerry Payne), Vacaville, CA; Cindy (Richard Smith), Santa Cruz, CA; Lori (Lonnie Poll), Ogden, UT; grandchildren include, Tim Schrader (Leslie), Amanda Loera, Ryan Loera, Nicole Andersen (Kyle), Josh Poll; four great-grandchildren, Jake, Blake, Drake, and Kash; by two sisters, Carleen Jennings, Oroville, CA; and Linda (Les) Kole, Bayfield, CO.  One sister, Kay Kenshol, is deceased.

He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Wildlife Society, National Rifle Association and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Cremation entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
