Penny Kapp

Isabel Rosaline Collins Kapp (Penny), our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010, at her home after an extended illness. She was 73.

Penny was born March 2, 1937 in Soda Springs, Idaho, the youngest child of Herbert and Lucy Collins. She spent her childhood on the family farm in Grace, Idaho. She moved to Ogden, Utah as a teenager and graduated from Weber High School. She married Robert D. Kapp on November 2, 1956 in the Logan Temple. Penny and Bob reared their family in Washington Terrace before the railroad moved them to St. Charles, MO for 3 years. After Bob''s retirement they returned to Utah, where they made lasting friendships while living in Perry, as well as the past few years in their current home in North Ogden. The address did not matter; as long as mom was there it felt like home.

Penny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various callings but was always best known for her acts of service. Penny''s life was a demonstration of her love and testimony of the Savior. Whether taking meals to neighbors or giving money to help a fellow dialysis patient pay for gas to drive to treatments, she was a kind and giving friend to all who knew her.

Penny worked many years for Lindquist Mortuary and often spoke fondly of her many friends there. After retiring, Penny kept busy by serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple.

Penny''s greatest joy was her family. She had a gift of making everyone feel loved and special. Her life was dedicated to loving and serving her family. Penny''s favorite thing was to gather the family and have a "party." She loved to laugh and her warmth and happiness was contagious. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, or as she would say, her "pally-wallies." Penny was an active grandma and would always take the kids on adventures to the Dinosaur Park, plays, movies, the fish farm, or just come to her house for homemade french-fries. Time with Grandma Penny was always special because she dedicated herself to whichever grandchildren were lucky enough to be with her.

Surviving are her husband, Robert, and her four children, Sherri (Steven) Baumann, Ron (Staci) Kapp, Peggy (Terry) Oglesby, and Craig (Michelle) Kapp; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Penny was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.

We express our gratitude to all who have offered love and support to mom these past couple years of illness. Penny''s children are especially grateful to our dear dad who has been mom''s constant care-giver these past two years of her illness. He tirelessly and selflessly served, cared for, loved and cherished mom.
