Peter V. Twitchell
OGDEN- Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend returned to his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 23, 2012 after an extended illness.
Pete was born January 12, 1927 to Peter and Ruth Twitchell in Delta, Utah where he spent his early years in childhood play, school and farming. He left Delta to join the United States Army and served his country during World War II.
After the war, he moved to Ogden where he met and married Charlb (Toby) Rackham, his lifelong companion, on June 15, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He worked at Western Auto in their large warehouses for many years and then became an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base. He had many friends there and was missed when he retired. He loved to work in his garden at home, loved country western music, and attending the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo. His favorite vacation spot was Yellowstone National Park where he taught his children to love nature and all of God''s creations.
Pete is survived by his children, Craig (Marla) Twitchell of Dale City, Virginia; Julie (Laurence) Smith of Ogden; Rick (Julia) Twitchell of West Point; Todd Twitchell of North Ogden; and Shauna (Kelly) Kolb of Roy; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Toby, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may visit with family at the mortuary on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank the Intermountain Healthcare Hospice staff and his caretakers Samantha Harper and Aris Pimentel.
