Phil G. Bake LAYTON - Phil G. Bake, 73, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 due to complications following a massive stroke. He was born March 24, 1935 in St. John, Idaho, the son of Everett Lester and Mary Arnn Bake. Phil was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho. He also attended Weber State College. Phil married Emi Yonamine on June 25, 1957 in Okinawa, Japan. Phil served in the USAF retiring as a MSgt in 1980 after serving his country for 26 years. Following his retirement from the USAF, he worked as a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service and retired in 1995. Phil was a member of the LDS Church and served several years as a scout leader. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Swan Lakes Senior Golf Association until 2003. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly enjoyed camping trips with family and friends. Phil was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family and friends will miss him immensely, and will always remember his quick wit and remarkable sense of humor. Surviving are his sweetheart of 51 years, Emi; two daughters, Lori (Danny) Padilla of Layton, and Jana (Alex Walker) Bake of Farmington; four grandchildren, Dan, Ty, Jami, Jake; two great-grandchildren, Trayden and Kaija Lily; two brothers, Dale Bake of Lovelock, NV and Lynn (Barbara) Bake of Kearns; and a sister, Gracie Williams of Malad, ID. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Oliver and Don, and one sister, Thelma Treyman. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, where military honors will be accorded by Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
