Phillip Clark Bailey
September 30, 1964 - August 22, 2023
Phillip Bailey (58) of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on August 22, 2023, while on vacation with his brothers in Hawaii.
Phil was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 30, 1964, to Wally and Deon Bailey. His family moved to Utah when Phil was 10 and he graduated from Bountiful High in 1982.
He served a 2-year LDS mission in Haiti and loved his time there. He spoke often of his missionary experiences and called it an amazing adventure.
Phil attended the University of Utah and was a lifelong fan of U of U sports. (Go Utes!) It seemed appropriate that he met his wife, Linda Busby, at a U of U basketball game. They married on September 6, 1990, and had three children, Parker, Jeremy, and Kathryn.
Phil worked in IT and was always willing to help friends and neighbors with their computer needs. He was smart, sarcastic, and funny and knew something about everything. He had an amazing memory for facts, sports, and useless trivia and was always happy to correct you when you had your information wrong. He liked all the weird stuff on the candy aisle like Idaho Spud, Rocky Road and Big Cherry. He valued the many friendships he made over the years and had a kind heart. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and believed in the importance of suspending judgment and caring for others.
Phil is predeceased by Wallace Clark Bailey (father) and Deon Andersen Bailey (mother). He is survived by his wife, Linda; their three children: Parker, Jeremy, and Kathryn; his siblings, Merrill Bailey, Stan (Sally) Bailey, Ellen (Bob) Henry and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and our well-loved cat Ash.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 1st at North Canyon Park, 3900 South Bountiful Blvd, Bountiful, Utah. Open House from 10-11am followed by a program at 11 am. Please wear your Ute gear or anything that would make Phil smile.
