Phillip Gooch (Phil) was a one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandpa, friend, and neighbor! He lived and loved, always understanding how short life is and that you must go the extra mile for those you love and those who may be hard to love—born April 8, 1931, in Waterville, Maine, to Phillip and Charlotte Gooch. Dad was an only child born and raised in Waterville, Maine. He joined the U.S. Air Force, served for 20 years, and then worked as an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force Base for another 28 years. Dad was a partner/owner in G&G Sprinkling and Landscaping with his two sons, Mike and Tim, for 30 years. He loved this work and always kept things organized with his well-known clipboards and spray paint system.
Dad met his sweet wife, Beverline Edwards, at a dance in Clearfield, Utah, in the 1950s. He was married to Beverline for 61 years. Dad and Mom served an LDS mission in Outer Mongolia in 1998-99 and loved the people of this country. In 2016, Beverline, his sparkle, which is what he called her, passed away. Dad stayed with her in the hospital till her last breath. Their love and commitment to each other have always been a great example to their children, 19 grandchildren, and 39 great-grandchildren. Dad loved to volunteer at the Syracuse Museum for more than 18 years.
Phil is survived by his daughter Stephanie Gooch Burns - Syracuse; son Jeff (Kim) Gooch - Mt Green; daughter- in-law Chris Gooch – Whitehall, Montana; daughter Mary Gooch Petrie – Perpignan, France; son Tim (Michele) Gooch – West Point; son Mike (Penny) Gooch – West Point; daughter Cindy Gooch – Syracuse.
