Craig Whitesides, 74, passed away Saturday March 25, 2023, at his home in Kaysville. He was the son of Dent A. Whitesides and Marjorie Moon Whitesides. Craig was born August 28, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised in Layton, Utah. He lived most of his life in Layton until he moved to Mutton Hollow in Kaysville.
Craig worked for the Layton City Fire Department, and the Clearfield City Fire Department. He then helped organize the North Davis Fire District where he had the title of “Deputy Chief/Fire Marshall”. Craig retired after 30 plus years of service.
Craig met the love of his life Linda J. Stephens, and they were later married on May 27, 1989, in Layton, Utah. He also became a great father to Linda’s two children, Kellie and Bryan. Craig and Linda were blessed with five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Craig enjoyed the outdoors. He loved fishing and trying his own files. He enjoyed being at his property in Tabiona, Utah and going on 4-wheel trips. He loved leather work and keeping his yard nice. But most of all he loved being with his family and his beloved dog Maggie.
Craig was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Val, brother Vaun, and sister Sharon Cottle.
Craig is survived by his wife and his two children, five grandkids, 10 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
We will all miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 to 10:30 at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
