July 20, 1918 ~ May 29, 2014

Phoebe A. Olson, 95, passed away peacefully May 29, 2014 at the Covenant Hospice In-Patient Unit in Panama City, FL.  Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George Walter and Ethel Melinda Anderson, Phoebe graduated from the University of Minnesota.  She married Olaf Carl "Ole" Olson in 1941.  They were married 65 years and had four children.

Due to Ole's employment with the U.S. Forest Service, they moved their family to several states, but were headquartered most of the time in Ogden.  Phoebe taught English in the Ogden School District and later earned a certificate of Library Science in Utah.  Her last employment being an elementary school librarian in Virginia.

After retirement in the 1970's, the Olsons returned to Ogden where they enjoyed salmon fishing in Canada and traveling with fellow retired Utah friends.  She traveled with her husband to many foreign countries, six continents, and all fifty states.  By 1980's they divided their time between Utah and Florida, finally settling entirely in Florida in 1999.  They moved from Cedar Key to The Village Retirement Community in Gainesville in 2001.  She resided at Mathison Retirement Center in Panama City for the past five months.

Phoebe enjoyed entertaining, sewing and playing bridge.  She had a love for reading, volunteered in local libraries and always had a book or word puzzle at hand.

Phoebe is survived by three sons, Scott (Mary), Panama City, FL.; Stephen, Danbury, CT.; and David (Brenda), Casselberry, FL.; daughter-in-law, Stacey, Dexter, MI; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom Anderson; husband; daughter, Martha Lee Olson; and two granddaughters, Sondra Jean Olson and Tammy Lynn Olson.
