Phyllis Sant Douglass

Our magic mother, Phyllis Douglass, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. We are filled with gratitude for the gifts of faith, wisdom, good humor and love that she gave to us. These and many other honorable traits were nurtured by her good parents, Preston and Elizabeth Sant, who brought her into this world as their youngest of nine children on June 26, 1925 in Black Diamond, Washington.

She was reared in Thatcher, Idaho mostly by her mother and siblings after her father died when she was six years old. The hardships Libby faced of raising a family in depression years forged strong and loving bonds for Phyllis. These good lessons from her mother and family built a strong foundation for Phyllis to raise her own family with Gerald L. Douglass whom she married on June 11, 1945 in Logan, Utah. They spent the larger portion of their lives in Clearfield. She worked many years as a school cook and truly she was a great cook who loved to prepare meals and share them with others.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was fun to watch her prepare lessons. Creativity and inspiration were woven into all her teachings. These lessons ranged from reverence for sunbeams (three-year-olds) to Cultural Refinement for her sisters in Relief Society. She served her Savior with faith and love. She was famous for the bright twinkle in her eye and the quick precious smile that was instantly there for anyone passing her way.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years and their children: Jenalee Wilson, Roy; Kathleen (Larry) West; Joyce (Dennis) Ballard, Murray; Kirk (Annette), Clearfield; Phil (Traci), Hooper; Jeri Lynne, Clearfield. Her children, 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren are lovingly devoted to her forever. She is also survived by her oldest sister, Pearl, of Copperton, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Nolan Wilson, her parents, three brothers and five sisters, and a great-grandson, Bryce Ryan Martin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Clearfield 10th Ward Chapel, 250 West 300 North.

Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
