Phyllis Dickerson Southwick, 89, passed away Thursday evening, January 31, 2008, surrounded by family.
She was born December 6, 1918 to Udy Anderson Dickerson and Ona Elizabeth Bassett. She is the oldest of ten children, four sisters and six brothers.
Phyllis married Ralph Southwick on November 5, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ralph passed away November 30, 2001.
She had great joy in her career as an Elementary school teacher. She taught elementary school in California and Washington before graduating from BYU in 1966. Following graduation, she taught school in Bountiful and Layton.
Phyllis enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She loved growing flowers and vegetables. She received many blue ribbons at county fairs for her entries. In her later years, correspondence with family and friends was a lifeline of love and joy.
Her testimony and lifelong activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints touched the lives of many. She and Ralph served two missions, the first, in Willits California, and the second, in South Dakota.
Phyllis loved her family of five children, 20 grandchildren, 48 great- grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers, who survive her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., at the mortuary.
